Achieving your perfect fit in the right product is something our consultants pride themselves on and is usually always possible with a personal visit to our Hot Gossip Bra Shop retail store located at 87 Alexandra Street, Hamilton, New Zealand.
Our Fitting Room secrets are designed to give you the best advice we can in selecting the correct size and product for your needs but achieving the same accuracy on a website where we are unaware of your age, figure type etc is not always possible. The styling and sizing systems used by the manufacturers differ depending on their locations and target markets but our Fitting Room secrets should help guide you through this.
If you are still unsure and need advice and you are unable to personally visit our store then contact us.
Please Put Your Bra On Correctly
Equally important to finding your correct size, is putting your bra on correctly so you can achieve a perfect fit. Put your arms through the straps and onto your shoulders - lean forward and let your bust fall into the cups naturally. Fasten the hook at the most comfortable position (usually the middle hook) and adjust your straps so the weight of your bust is supported and the back of your bra is level with the front. The level of your bust should be positioned halfway between your shoulder and elbow. If it is below the half way point, then shorten the straps. If it is above the half way point, then lengthen the straps.
The bra should be a comfortable and snug fit on your rib cage. If raising your arms above your head causes the bra to lift up or move away from your body - the rib cage size may be too large and/or the cup size too small. Your breasts should be completely covered inside the cups of the bra - if you are spilling out of the front or the sides, the cups may be too small or the straps too tight.
Up to 80% of women are wearing the wrong size bra which rapidly leads to back and health problems. We would like to see this problem reduced (even eliminated if possible) as it can cause lasting damage to delicate breast tissue. By following our fitting room procedure carefully, you should achieve a perfect result but to get the best possible fit, please measure accurately.
Care For Your Underwear
Do not wear the same bra two days in a row, as the fabric needs time to relax, as it is likely to go out of shape and lose its fit.
Your bra should not need washing after every wear, so by rotating your bras, you will help them to regain their original shape and fit, and also increase their life.
Normal washing detergents use harsh chemicals that could be very unkind to delicates, so we suggest you use a softer soda-based fabric wash. Also, if using a washing machine we strongly recommend you place all your delicates in a Mesh Lingerie Wash Bag to protect them from getting tangled with the agitator or other clothing.
After six months use you should consider replacing your bras as they will be stretched and no longer fitting like they should.
A Final Comment From The Fitting Room
Some bra and girdle styles are more suitable for younger or more mature figure types and will fit smaller or larger than your actual measurements may indicate as manufacturers sizing geometry differs slightly, depending on which age group they are catering for. In addition to our standard fittings and the products displayed on this site we carry specialised fittings for the younger and more mature client, so if in doubt, please contact us for further assistance, as we have the experience and training to solve any fitting problems you may have.
